About Course
Effective physiotherapy practice requires not only technical skills but also the ability to reason clinically and communicate clearly with patients. This course explores the clinical reasoning process in muscle activation and exercise prescription while emphasizing the art of patient-centred communication.
Through role-playing, case discussions, and reflective exercises, participants will learn how to interpret patient history, differentiate between acute, subacute, and chronic conditions, and adapt their reasoning based on onset, symptom behavior, and red flags. Equally important, the course highlights the impact of language, tone, and delivery on patient understanding, anxiety, and engagement.
Physiotherapists will develop strategies to reassure patients, simplify complex medical concepts, and avoid information overload while encouraging shared decision-making and self-management. Practical examples include addressing common patient misconceptions (e.g., “slipped disc”), using analogies to explain healing, and framing treatment options collaboratively.
This course is designed to build confidence in both clinical reasoning and therapeutic communication, equipping physiotherapists to deliver safer, more effective, and patient-centred care.
